RBB made an appearance at a Baaba Maal / Blick Bassy concert the night of the 20th at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The performance is not listed on either’s schedule of events, but it is listed on the venue calendar.

Nothing conclusive on why RBB was there, but there are a few connections to One Direction. In late 2014, both One Direction and Baaba Maal appeared in a cover of God Only Knows for BBC Music. (The order of performers can be found here.) An article on The Guardian mentions that X Factor-type shows are already starting to emerge in various African countries, and that he has been approached by one or two to be a judge. This might indicate a possible connection to Simon Cowell, but the “X-Factor-type” wording makes that a bit loose.
